Awakening Empathy: Poetry and the Holocaust

It has been said that what the historian achieves in a book, the poet presents in ten or twenty lines. Poetry can often awaken empathy and strike a chord with students because it allows for discussion of issues that go beyond the historical facts of the Holocaust alone. Poetry can raise moral, philosophical, and theological questions that engage us, allowing for a fertile educational discussion. This webinar, led by a facilitator from Yad Vashem, will cover the poetry included in Echoes & Reflections, as well as other poems.

Echoes and Reflections delivers value to both experienced Holocaust educators who are supplementing their curricula and for teachers new to Holocaust education.
