Teaching the Holocaust Using Poetry

It has been said that what the historian achieves in a book, the poet presents in ten or twenty lines. Poetry can say more in less and states the truth of the poet’s own experience. Poetry can often awaken empathy and strike a chord with students because it allows for further discussion of issues that go beyond the historical facts of the Holocaust alone. Poetry can raise moral, philosophical, and theological questions and dilemmas that engage us, allowing for a fertile educational discussion. This webinar will cover the poetry included in Echoes and Reflections, as well as others.

Echoes and Reflections delivers value to both experienced Holocaust educators who are supplementing their curricula and for teachers new to Holocaust education.
