At an Echoes and Reflections program in Tennessee sponsored by the Claims Conference, A Holocaust survivor and an Israeli scholar urged students not to view the era's events — both of immense horrors and compassion — with a detached objectivity, but to allow the events to speak to them about their own individual humanity.
